Calories Burned Calculator This calories burned calculator estimates the amount of calories you will burn by performing the specified activity for a given amount of time. It is based on the use of metabolic equivalent (MET) intensity levels, where 1 MET is the resting metabolic rate while sitting quietly. The METs used in this calculator come from "Compendium of Physical Activities: An update of activity codes and MET Intensities", Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine: Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, September 2000.

The actual amount of calories burned depends upon a number of factors, including age, gender, body mass, body fat percentage, and environmental conditions. So, please note that the values calculated are only estimates. However, it can be useful to compare different types of activities.

The calculator uses the following formula to account for body mass:
Calories Burned = Duration in Minutes x ((MET x 3.5 x weight in kg)/200).
